A VICTORIAN woman has died after plunging 60 metres down the spectacular Mitchell Falls waterfall in the far north of WA.Police said the 37-year-old Victorian tourist died after falling down Big Mertens Falls near the spectacular Mitchell Falls in the Mitchell River National Park, one of the iconic tourist attractions in the Kimberley.
The woman is believed to have slipped and fallen to her death into a pool below the falls.
A paramedic was at the scene and the woman was declared dead at the scene.
The accident happened about 10.30am yesterday and the woman's husband was with her before she fell.
Police were notified at 11.25am and flew to the scene.
It is understood rescue workers were unable to retrieve the woman's body yesterday due to the remote, rugged location.
However her body has now been removed.
